Deconstruction

It starts with empathy

Disclaimer and Trigger Warning: a lot of this page deals with difficult topics with references to trauma and abuse which occurred throughout history and continues today. If this isn't for you, check out my other pages.

I cannot pinpoint exactly when my deconstruction began, but by the time I was in highschool I had things that I did not believe in, sermons that I was doubting, ideas about gender and the validity of such roles that were no longer satisfactory to my increasingly radicalising mind. Empathy is dangerous to a world that runs on hate. It threatens the structures and systems that keep us subdued because that empathy can cause us to act against such a system. I grew tired of seeing people getting hurt from the systems that the church as an institution defended: colonialism, homophobia, the patriarchy, etc.

Empathy radicalises you. It can cause one to speak up for another being hurt. Being oppressed. Being abused. So while I continue on my journey, as I write my thoughts and feelings about the world around me, my goal is to be a kind and well-rounded human being. One who cares for all things great and small so that future generations can enjoy a kinder world.

Leaving christianity

I was raised in a christian household where almost everything revolved around the church (political beliefs included). I was taught that Jesus loved everyone regardless of who they were while in the same sentence we must hate gay people because... reasons? True judgement would only happen in the afterlife so while we were on earth, no one should be turned away. But actions speak louder than words
